Is it just me or do the forelock extensions look rather silly, given that the rest of the mane is short in comparison? Either go for full L’Oreal on your mahjeestick wild horses or don’t, but don’t half-ass it!

Well, at some point I should probably comment on how amazingly silky these brumbies’ manes and tails are, and how free of witch knots, but, yes, a longer mane to go with a longer forelock would have been a bit more realistic!

@madmaenad replied to your post:

I know I’m not supposed to but I just keep feeling bad for Russell Crowe’s character. That’s rough I’d be mad too.

When I was a kid, I didn’t feel bad for him at all. I cheered for the horses. But now on re-watching the film I definitely feel that he has it pretty rough. I’d be pretty upset if my mare jumped the fence and went off with a feral stallion under my very nose.

(I’d also probably go after her, rather than yell No and then stand staring after her rapidly retreating form, and apparently do nothing else about it for the rest of the year.)

Yeah, and you won’t be gloating then, Russell.

I always thought that tiny square of light on her upper lip looked like a tooth and it was hard to unsee

Thanks. Thank you very much. Because now I can’t unsee it either.

This scene as a whole is a gem. We have:

  • heavy chanting
  • dramatic slow motion jump
  • Russell Crowe falling over his dog
  • gratuitous neighing and head bobbing
  • more slooow motion jumping
  • Russell Crowe’s growly “No”
  • warp speed exit
  • the Big No
  • the face of a man who has watched £200* run away.

*£200 in the 1940s comes out to between AU$10 000-16 000 today.

Golden’s like “FWIP” over the fence gets me every time

Holy shit that speed jump at the end ?? Kate I hope you’re making a gif of it

Also the music lmao I really need to watch this movie now

The gifs have been made, but I think I may go make a special set just of Golden jumping, because that warp speed exit deserves something extra.
